- August 6: At noon on Fridays once or twice a month, I will create wall paintings of L.A. people kind enough to sit for me. Video of each session will be streamed live on freebrianrea.com. First one today- Mary.
- July: ICON conference complete. Great to see everyone out here in Pasadena and a real honor to MC alongside the esteemed Paul Rogers.
- June: Back to L.A. studio. Thank you Stockholm- Missing Bastugatan 1 studio, the amazing Amelie Hegardt and the long walk there each morning.
- May 16: Weekly drawings for the New York Times Modern Love column launched today. New drawings, heartache and love every Sunday!

- February 20: Press and some pics of the 'Visions and Fears' mural at Fast Company. Thanks Alissa!
- January 29: Honored to be participating in "Murals" at The Joan Miro Foundation in Barcelona. Show features wall installations by twelve artists. Opens February 19.
- November 10: Now sharing a studio with the amazing Amelie Hegardt.
- November 3: The GOOD 100 on newstands now! Thrilled to art direct the issue and big thanks to all the assistants who helped with the art. A look behind the scenes.
- October 13: Back in NYC for solo exhibit + launch party of Paul Dickson's book "Drunk." 60 new drawings created for the book will be on display. Melville House bookstore, NYC 7pm. Cocktails? Of course!
- September 21: Hej hej Stockholm! I will be living and working here for 6 months. New phone number posted soon. For all projects please use brianarea@gmail.com. Tack tack!
- September 10: 15 drawings on display at the Jack Spade pop-shop in Los Angeles. Opening night Thursday 6-8.
- September: Big move to Stockholm Sweden for 6 months (leaving 21 of September). The studio will be open and fully operating on schapps and skagen.
- July: Guest art directed the 'Water Issue' of GOOD. Thanks to Casey Caplowe and the crew for making it a great experience. On newstands now. Check it out or, even better subscribe!
- June 24: Tape rules! 'Utapia' mural collaboration with Nicholas Blechman at the Art Directors Club (NYC). Thanks to all the assistants who helped us complete it in under 5 hours.
- April 1: MOBI launches mobile device management site with 15 'episode' drawings. Designed by Young and Laramore.
- March 29: Back from Malofiej 17- amazing experience. Congrats to Amanda Cox for this year's Peter Sullivan award. Special thanks to the rockstar students at the Universidad de Navarra who showed us a great time and helped me avoid 'issues' with the policia municipal.
- March: Really excited to be speaking at Malofiej 17 Conference in Pamplona, Spain. A big thank you to Javier Errea for the invitation.
- January 5: Happy new year! Keep an eye out for the January cover of LA Magazine- Thanks to Joe Kimberling for a super smooth project.
- November 13: Flying into NYC for the American Illustration 27 bash- Honored to be part of the jury this year. Big love to Simon Peplow for the hysterical portrait. The book was designed by Scott Stowell of Open, N.Y. and Serifcan Ozcan with a beautiful cover by Ted McGrath. Check it out.
- October 25: The AIGA asked me to participate in this year's Gain Conference 20/20 event. 3 beers, 2 bloody mary's, a pinata and Steve Perry...dear god. Hugs to the lovely Debbie Millman and the wicked awesome folks at Blip Boutique for shooting and editing my absurdity.
- September 5: The AIGA takes a look at design trends down the road. Be prepared.
- August 5: Hello Los Angeles! West coast studio opening soon- you will all be invited to the party.

- June 10: After 4 years, I stepped down as art director of the Op-Ed Page at the New York Times. Many thanks to Kim Bost, Sam Weber, and John Hendrix for assistance, patience and some damn good memories.
